Junior Achievement Bowl-a-thon
The JA Bowl-A-Thon is an important fund-raiser and helps JA impact the lives of thousands of students. Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon is a lot of fun, but more importantly it will help impact the lives of over 70,000 students South Texas during the 2009-2010 school year. JA does this by using hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of life. Our employees made several bowling teams and were able to raise almost $6,000 to benefit Junior Achievement.
Relay For Life
NavyArmy is a proud supporter for Relay For Life. Our teams raise money and camp out at a local high school, fairground, or ballpark and take turns walking around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event – because cancer never sleeps. Relay For Life is an overnight event which celebrates survivors, remembers loved ones, and brings millions of people to raise money to help prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish suffering from the disease.
ADA Walk - Step Out to Fight Diabetes- 10/9/2010
Join NavyArmy as we STEP OUT TO FIGHT DIABETES at the 8th annual "Dancing Through Downtown" walk to be held on Saturday, October 9th at Whataburger Field beginning with registration at 7:30am and Opening Ceremonies at 8:00am. The walk begins and ends at Whataburger Field. It winds through the uptown and downtown area. There will be over 21 entertainment venues to enthuse and motivate walkers throughout the 4 mile route, this event is sure to keep the heart pumping and feet jumping! Highlights include are high school bands, musicians, a Michael Jackson impersonator, Zumba dancers and more.All the entertainers donate their services for this community event. Last year, more than 2,500 walkers participated and raised more than $150,000, to defeat diabetes.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer- 10/23/2010
NavyArmy will walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer non competitive event that unites our entire community to celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate people about how to reduce their breast cancer risk or find the disease early, and raise funds to end the disease. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer supports the American Cancer Society's unique mission to fight cancer on all fronts and save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or finding it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking research and by fighting back by encouraging lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight.
